Volcano is Acting Up #3: Pele is Smoking!

We drove up to VNP this morning. I was not prepared for how big and grand the ash plume is. It is so think and dense and comes out of the crater in violent puffs that billow upward. We first viewed it from the back of the Volcano House and then we drove over by the steam vents and walked out that little trail to the overlook there. We were lucky enough to catch one of the HVO scientists who was out there talking and answering questions. In his opinion....this is a BIG deal....but of course, no one knows.
