thanks bullwinkle and oink! this home was built in the 1950's and if i'm correct the rental/cottage in the 80's. by today's standards, i don't think that the electrical is up to par or code. if we should re-wire the main home, do you think that it would be good to just add another line and separate meter to the cottage? that way when we rent out both the cottage and the main house, the tenants wouldn't have to, "do the math" and would just have their own electric bill.
