Damon you need to remember that this web site isn't about just YOU or Puna residents only, it's for all to enjoy and contribute. Why mock someones post, sometimes silence is golden[?]
Thanks for asking Sillhope,
Boy am I sore! Well we came in second by 3 steps. I haven’t had more fun since I was a kid.
Our lead man (Teddy Bell Jr.) was born and raised right across the street the street from the rodeo arena and still ropes on a 300+ acre ranch in Waimea. The calf was on a 50’ rope that all three of us had to hold on to. When they opened the shoot Teddy rushed the calf and it bolted to our left in fear. So Teddy went in grabbed it by the neck and leg, dragged it out yappin’ and kicking and body slammed it to the ground. It looked more like the WWF then a rodeo event. My job was to lay on the calf and bring the shirt over the two front legs and up to the head and Teddy was to bring it over the head and take the rope off. Our third man had the shirt inverted on his arms and his job was to grab the two front legs and hold them so I could transfer the shirt. Then the three of us holding on to the rope had to run back to a barrel across the arena. We were only beaten by a few steps and therefore we took second place.
The winning team got to direct the donation money to their favorite charity.
What a great day and we are preparing our strategy for next year’s event.
And Jerry I didn't see you in the stands[V]
But Jayne did take a video and I will try to put it on UTube but I have never been on that site before so give me few days to figure it out. If anyone knows any short cuts let me know? (47Mb)
Thank you all for asking about the charity event...it's all about giving, eh?
