Yes, crackers. My blood is 100% Southern, and 100% cracker. Most people don't know what crackers are. Crackers are Scotch-Irish and they are what make the South different from the rest of the country (better in most ways and worse in others). The best book on the subject is by Professor McWhinney. It's called "Cracker Culture -- Celtic Ways in the Old South". It explains more clearly than any source why the South is different. We are celtic. Sure, there is a smattering of pale Englishman, but mostly Celtic, clannish, blood-is-thicker than water CELTIC. That's where the music came, that's where the relaxed attitude came from, that's where it all came from: Crackers. I'm proud to be a coal miner's great-great-grandson. And a cracker.
