tmyc,
Nice pic! The water is up around the base of the coconut trees. This indicates the photo was taken after November 1975, when the quake dropped the level everything from Kapoho to Kalapana and beyond by up to 5 '! Note: Kehena was TWO beaches before that.

Aloha O Kalapana,
Sweet Paradise by the sea.
Aloha O Kalapana,
You were a friend to me.
I slept beneath your swaying palms;
With you I read Proverbs and Psalms
At your bosom I learned to live.
The peace you gave me, to the world I’d like to give.
You were my born-again birthplace.
In your beauty I saw God’s face.
Far and distant I wandered ‘way from you;
Far from your breeze so soft and sea so blue.
Evermore I thought you would be there,
And I would return to say I care.
Though now the palm trees stand no more,
Forever I’ll cherish my time on your shore.
Aloha O Kalapana,
Goddess Pele has taken you away.
Aloha O Kalapana,
Love you I shall for all my days.
Aloha O Kalapana
