I hope your referring to Local people and not necessarily "Hawaiians"
On the Big Island, the Candidates of Hawaiian Ancestry did relatively well in the primaries:
Pilago, Hanohano, Naeole, Enriques all faired well in there races.
I would say the "HAWAIIAN" Vote definitely played a "race" card in these district races.
I think the precinct break down is very interesting too.
Click here for the 2004 precinct figures and here for 2006, but it would be interesting to see if more or less from certain districts are voting now.
