Island Residents Urged to Prepare "Safe Rooms"
#4
Actually, I think he was correct although headlined to be a bit alarmist. The article could certainly have been written better.

quote:
Officials from the Big Island reported to state lawmakers that they suggest residents prepare "safe rooms" regarding the ongoing eruption of dangerous gases from Kilauea Volcano.-----------------------"So, what we're advising the community is be prepared for an announcement to come out and stay indoors, minimize your outdoor activity, but basically shelter in place in your own residence," Hawaii County Fire Chief Darryl Oliveira said. (Emphasis added by oink)

I had already thought about that. I wonder what would be a good cheap filter method. Charcoal? Homemade filter of two screens with coneycomb between filled with fine charcoal. It would be made to cover all exterior windows. A whole-house fan would be used to pull air gently through the filter screens. Stored in shed when not needed. Just thinking. I don't even know if charcoal will help.
