Bosch on demand water heaters

We have the electronic ignition unit which doesn't require any power at all. It has a waterwheel activated piezo-electric starter. There is an electric cord, too, but I don't know what that's for since I never bothered to look. Maybe a heater to keep it from freezing in the winter, do you suppose? We bought ours from Sauces and Propane in Honokaa since they gave us a trade-in discount on our old Paloma.
