I would love to trust folks to train their dogs to stay within their own yards....I have a hard time walking in my own neighborhood because of dogs who are not chained or fenced in, and who are quite hostile when I try to walk by, running out into the street....it's not the dog's fault - they don't know the street is not their own property. I think it's a pretty rare case when a person can totally train their dog to stay within their own unfenced yard.
That being said, I love watching "The Dog Whisperer" on TV. And yes, I agree that a dog is a great protector of your property. Just do the appropriate training, please, because I sure would love to walk around the neighborhood in safety.
