I think the subject of the Hawaiian Kingdom is an interesting one. The most interesting part to me is why it is an issue at all. Surely the US took over the islands, and will never give them back. As others have said the military is too entrenched here. But, and this is the crux of my thinking, the Hawaiians have more money and land, here in Hawaii, than anyone else. It is all held by Kam Schools. If they wanted to they could establish Hawaiian communities and Hawaiian business, and pretty much make the whole thing a non-issue. As an example, when Kam Schools bought the Hamakua coast they didn't even lift a finger for their own people. Imagine all that land being lived on, farmed, and administered by Hawaiians. With entire communities living their own lifestyle, working in a manner suitable to their nature, and essentially having an economy of their own. The Hawaiians could be living, and raising their children, with a sense of self worth and dignity that I believe white man stripped them of so many years ago. It seems so simple, and grand when you think how much land, and money, Kam Schools has. They could start a revolution without firing a shot, without anyones permission, no votes, just because they want to. But like all refugees the Hawaiians are pawns, and will never find justice through the system that has harmed them so greatly in the first place, and of which, for reasons I can not figure, Kam Schools whole heartedly condones.
