Does anyone have experience with AWS (Advanced Wireless Service) locally? I've been using it at the places I am staying temporarily in HPP and seems fairly reliable. I use a Sprint Air Card at my construction site in upper Orchidland with some success, although not really very fast.
We have it.
Like others - we went thru the runaround with cable and telephone company's - neither are available in HPP near the ocean and Makuu.
Initially, it was hard to get someone on the phone to talk to - but with patience, we did. Gave them the info. they came out and evaluated. You need to have a line of site from one of their sites to the receiver at your site. The trees on our lot (next door to where we are renting) blocked the signal - but they were coming down for us to build. They said to call when that happened.
A few weeks latter - trees gone - called - scheduled another evaluation - good signal from their 4th & Makuu site. Scheduled an installation the following week.
They install a small receiver box about 8" square - basic install is just to attach it to the house on an eave or such - if necessary they can put it on a pole on the roof - which they had to do for us - no roof penetrations - so far, no problems works great. Very pleasant experience - nice people.
Time will tell - I'm listening?
