In the early 90’s I worked road construction in downtown Miami at night. At that time B&E was out of control and the police force couldn’t cover the city with adequate protection.
They subcontracted with Wackenhut Security to patrol the high crime areas. It was a simple solution and at an affordable cost. They were in radio contact with the police and were able to report to them in real time, just another set of eyes in the community. It is a deterrent because the last thing a burglar wants is to be identified. The bad guys will move on.
