One problem, didn’t the people want the police to be looking for people stealing construction equipment as a priority? Or was it they want them chasing down dog owners who let their dogs run loose as the priority? No, it was dealing with rooster noise complaints as a priority. Hum, I think it was traffic enforcement as the priority. Oh yeah, parking enforcement was the priority unless the priority is still business breakins? Oopps my mistake, it was spousal and child abuse in Puna as the priority, or was it drunks? Can't keep up with all the people's "priorities" of the moment for the police.
The problem is not that the police won't do anything the problem is there's not enough police to do the job based on crime. Police follow crime as in they get resources based on crime which lags the actual crimes. So if they have enough for what is going on today and that increased tomorrow, their resources are allocated next go around.
But good news, contacting your Councilmember and Mayor's office each time will send a very strong message that crime must be dealt with immediately. If that means government must raise property taxes to deal with what the people want, government must do it because that’s what the people want.
