Since peanut plants flower on the stem and then send a 'peg' down into the soil to produce the peanut underground, they are supposed to prefer sandy soil. I have not tried growing them, but would guess they would do well with a few inches of fine-grained mix (or even county mulch if it did not rot too fast) on top of the 'soil'. I am guessing Georgia gets plenty of summer rain on their peanuts, so you just need a well drained medium for the peanuts and then not let them sit too long after they are mature.
