My systems include a 3 stage whole house filter housing & then the UV filter. I use a step down method of filtering using a 10 micron sediment filter to a 5 micron carbon block filter to a 1 micron carbon block filter prior to the UV filter. It's kind of an over kill BUT I drink my water!!! Most UV's require a min. of 5 micron filter prior to the UV filter. I prefer Liquatec filters, and Sterilight UV. Both are easy to find and work great. You will be able to drink your water with no fears at all.

I was under the impression that the smallest "whole house" filter was 5 microns - that you lose too much pressure with 1 micron and that 1 micron could only be used at a faucet under the sink. If you do use a 1 micron "whole house" how much pressure do use lose in that most important facility - the SHOWER!
