HPP Special BOD Meeting Tuesday, May 5th at 6pm
#58
Aloha!

(If my normal "posting" seems more disoriented than usual - I am SUFFERING with the flu - all empathy is greatly appreciated.)

First - Punatick (I like it - something that's annoying and gets under the skin!) - Jeff, Thank You - For stepping out and exposing yourself here on PunaWeb to the trials and tribulations of an internet forum and the confusion associated with HPP disinformation and Paving.

I have been following and staying away from expounding on some of the posts - but "jade's" post about something she read on the "unofficial" HPP website and the responses has dragged me forth!

Because they did not post on PunaWeb I will not quote the HPP forum post - but I will quote "jade":

Thank you Youser. I had read this:

"When, I went in to the office to pay the road fee, I was told by the woman working there, that the Board of Director did not follow the Bond Plan. Yes, I was also told their was no more funds for purchasing material to further maintenance the roads. I ask her what was being done about the Property Owners, that are not paying their road fees, her reply, we are putting a lien on their property, and if, they are two years behind, then they will start foreclosure on the owner. Now, their continues to be a 15% increase in our road fees, for the next 15 years, but for the next 5 years, no material will be purchased for our roads and now I am reading we are in default on the Bond Payment.

From the HPP website. It is so wonderful that Jeff is letting us know what is really going on."

I WAS
in the HPP office paying my road fees - when I heard MOST of the above conversation - It was from someone in the office who would know what was gong on. (I will email - Jeff - with more particulars for his dissemination.) After hearing this - I addressed the person and asked if I had heard correctly. I will now paraphrase.

A) The Board had passed a budget that "practically" eliminated road material for unpaved roads for the next FIVE years.
B) The figures (I barely remember) for road materials normally averages $300,000.00 and the "new" budget only allowed $25,000.00.
C) That the "maintenance" division would do the best they could with the limited resources and would probably need to "scrape" excess material from the sides of roads to fill in "pot-holes", etc..
D) That the "Bond" payments put to much strain on our budget and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future - affecting the "overall" maintenance of our roads.
E) That this person (who lives in the park) didn't care if their road was maintained because the worse it was the less people drove down it.

I empathize with JerryCarr about the complacency of HPP residents - BUT IMHO it comes from gossip, innuendo and a history of bad management - from both the board and the office. It is an UPHILL struggle that the current board and office inherited. It needs to be noted that some of the current board members and current office management have been in place - AWHILE!
I believe that INFORMATION is the KEY - timely - accurate - unbiassed!

Cough! Nyquil - Nap!
