If drugs are ever legalized, society will have to deal with an increased rate of B&E because many of those who make a living in the illegal drug trade will need to supplement their income by other means.
The smart thing to do would be to put them to work in the legal drug business with salaries, taxes, 401(k)'s, etc. and the hard core who refuse will continue with their illegal lifestyles and eventually go to jail.
