Carol, we had about 200+ sheep on our farm on the Oregon coast in a former life so cant comment about pineapples. Dogs and sheep generally do not mix. An unsupervised herding dog will herd the sheep til they are exhausted and some times will become aggressive, tearing the ears and ripping hunks of skin off the flanks. Most dogs will chase sheep for sport and when they get a taste of blood think umm, umm good, then its a choice of sheep or dog. In our case it was the dog as the sheep were income.
The only time I ever had sheep and dog co-exist was when I got a Kommodor guard dog pup and raised it with bummer lambs and it bonded with the lambs/sheep and protected the flock from predators, two and four legged. So,having said all that my daughter had a dog ( mixed breed)that had no interest in the sheep. Not much is cast in stone. If you get sheep do not leave the dog unsupervised and see what happens, you may luck out or have to make a choice Ron
