Those are not flip questions at all, Kathy. There are still a few construction sites (mostly owner-builder or contractor built for individuals,) but probably not enough for a criminal to make a living. Bank owned or foreclosed homes do get broken into, but there is usually little to take, so they often end up into the "forced entry with damage, nothing taken" reporting category. Sometimes water pumps and appliances do get taken from vacant homes, so those incidents can result in significant property loss. Far more damaging, IMHO, is the feeling of violation and loss one gets when one's personal space is invaded and personal/sentimental items are taken. The loss of a pet would push me right over the edge.
