Care to explain further. Better comparisons by population would be All murders (not homicides) to all murders. All rapes to all rapes, all burglaries to ...., well you get the idea. The only one that should specify guns is gun accidents. Other factors will skew numbers shuch as demographics. For an example, an area with high concentrations of organized gangs would be expected to have more murders.
