We just got back from a trip to the UK on United. All in all it was a pretty nice. I refused to pay their baggage fees so my husband and I each took a max sized carry on and a "personal item" (a large purse for me and a laptop case for my husband.) No problem.
It was a long flight so they fed us two meals. They even provided gluten-free meals for me which was nice. (Hawaiian doesn't provide any special meals anymore)
I really hadn't wanted to fly United because we'd had some dicey experiences with them before. But they had direct flights to London on a plane configured the way we like (two seats on each side)and an OK price. I have to say I would use them again after this recent trip. In Economy I even had room for my long legs!
