Realtors/Real Estate Agents in online forums

Speaking of factual information, residents of Hilo WISH they received only 95 inches or rain annually. The annual average at the airport is more than 126 inches:

(The map gives the 2008 end-of-the-year figures for various stations Ð look for the "norm" section).

And it only gets wetter the further mauka you go, as Waiakea Uka averages 180 inches and Piihonua 190 inches. The wettest place on the island is located on the slopes of Mauna Kea above Hilo at an elevation of 2,500-3,000 feet (not shown on the map) and averages more than 250 inches per year.

Interestingly (to me, anyway), some years back the number for Hilo was reduced from more than 130 inches because it represents a 30-year running average, and rainfall there has been down slightly in recent years.
