To answer your question;
The moon was not blue, but yellow, while it sparkled. It did, however, seem much smaller than I would have thought.

New lava update:
The deflation event seems to have bottomed out. There has been kind of a spike at the Halema'uma'u tiltmeter, but the Pu'u O'o meter is staying level.
The Ocean entry has sputtered to pretty much nothing and there is lots of vog in the area. I would suggest waiting for better conditions.
