This is the specialization, the "individuality" I was speaking about in another post. You see how deeply the factory system has invaded social life? We need a forum only for local, only for world, only for planting, only for health. You have no freedom left.
All these topics are intrinsically connected and separating them always leads to an incomplete understanding. Then you end up with people in little college offices publishing for some other guy in another college office and everyone else is talking about Britney Spears.
There is no local right now. Washington and General Electric are in your house and on your laptop everyday. Two corporations that only give you the illusion of choice. Big Island people are acting no different than the people I meet in Manhattan. People think it is all cool and slow and filled with Big Island Love. But we act at the same root; a individualistic greed. That is not meant as an insult. It is the state of things, it is our culture.
808, you do not speak of anarchism, you speak of the totalitarianism system of free market capitalism. If we continue to make it possible for some people to have more than others of finite resources you will never get rid of the greed.
To keep this on topic, the only way to predict the future is if the present stays the same. I wish to make the future as unpredictable as possible, something so foreign no one can see it coming. All of you who were predicting the future, that depresses me, because it means you are actually predicting that nothing fundamental will change.
