According to this source, the tenant or owner, I wasn't clear on that, recently ran for public office. There are two suspects in custody.

Un Mojado Sin Licencia

A lot of people have nasty things to say about insurance companies but they are businesses like any other. Imagine having to pay out because of something like this? Imagine your livelihood hinging on just how high/drunk two squatters are and what they are arguing about?

After going through a fairly small one-room fire with full house smoke damage in our last house, I realize that the Luquin family will have a lot on their plate, including many decisions, both for what is the best financial path to go forward & for how to best take care of a loyal family of employees...

Wether or not they can open up a temporary food establishment will need to be weighted with best time & money management..
If they do rent another site to re-open, there will be juggling of staff & resources, & most important, the owners time, esp if they also decide to rebuild...

& any rebuilding would have to be weighted with all other contingencies, as it will take time to get the buildings up & the business back to where it was last week...
Some owners, esp if they were looking at retirement in the nearer future, end up not building, others re-build to a different scale than they had in the past, some larger, some smaller...

Each of these decisions has many ripples that will effect the town of Pahoa, but I do think most of us realize that this will be a very trying time & if they do rent to re-open, they may be on a very thin margin... & that they are doing that mainly to maintain some staff & customer base...
