Moving to the Big Island!

Is it possible to get a decent house for 300K? Oh yeah. Heck, in some areas, you can get a really nice house for 250K.

Ah, perhaps a description of what a "decent" or "nice" house is? Sometimes folks don't always have the same comparisonal database and it is good to get an idea of what is actually being looked for. My auntie and I definitely don't have the same idea of what "nice" is and we are even related. There might be a wider perception gap between folks who aren't related?

Hi Sld,

Best bet is to go to Big Island and spend a few weeks driving around and get a feel of the place.

Then you can narrow down to which areas you might like to live and start looking at houses.

Read a NYT's article about the Puna today here is the link and it lead to another site that discusses realestate in the Puna area.
I prefer the Pweb to the Pguide, more personal for my taste, but it's info none the less.

I couldn't really figure out who created punaguide. No "about me" or anything. Anybody know?

From the NYT piece: ". . . Michael Tatzber, a massage therapist who is in the process of buying a second home on the Big Island for $250,000 with his partner, Cassandra Holmes, a graphic designer. They also run Punaguide.com, a Web site that offers advice to potential buyers."

aloha,
Gene
