Ha, looks that way, Kalakoa! What are TPMS reader loops?

Do you have any documentation on the fire part. I'm still on some of the fire inspector mailing lists and I haven't heard Boo about that

A smart meter is just a wireless transmitter to a receiver on a pole nearby, like wifi. How is that worse than people driving in trucks from meter to meter to get a reading, looking at their wages, how much gas they are using, the possibility for reading error?
I come from a truly Orwellian place, which has numerous power outages due to falling trees, and the utility there decided to run a fiber optic line along the power lines to provide real time monitoring, as well as accept smart meter data. It needed to be fatpipe with little traffic, resulting in huge excess bandwidth. This is the insidious, nefarious, soul sapping result -- free internet:

Poulsbo gets pilot fiber-optic broadband program
POULSBO — Lightning-fast broadband has been added to some parts of Poulsbo's downtown. And for now, it's free.
The Kitsap Public Utility District installed a $7,000 antenna to the First Lutheran Church on Fourth Avenue about three weeks ago, according to Stephen Perry, superintendent of telecommunications.
The installation in Poulsbo kicks off a pilot program aimed at putting to use some 120 miles of fiber-optic cable already installed all over the county. This is the first time the public utility district, which will manage and pay for the program, has offered this service. There's also another 100 miles of fiber cable installation planned for the county, according to the district's website.
It's more than a bit humorous that the same grid conspiracy neoluddites want to spread their message of mind control hysteria on the greatest grid devised by humans so far: the Interwebz.

Wow ,At my place in Ohio,I not only have a smart meter, I also have a device on my hot water tank that allows the power company to turn off my hot water at times of peak demand. It has a bunch of different colored lights on it.
I never realized it was a mind control device !!!
I suppose that is why I support GMO'S and geothermal power.
Is there a detox center I can go to or should I claim a disability and get an EBT card ?

They can turn off your hot water?!? I'd be getting a new water heater... Dang that independence of wanting to be able to take a hot shower any time I dang well please...
What ARE the arguments against the smart meter? Other than the obvious; a company with a ton of profit cutting lots of good, entry level jobs...

I just had to chime in on this one as I heard this story on (iHeartRadio) the other day:
http://www.wftv.com/news/news/local/acti...tes/nSQ2r/
From the article: "Smart Meter over billing complaints are common nationwide. One consumer group study found 30 percent of the bills increased after the meters were used some states."

See there?! I knew I wasn't crazy... Helco said we must have gotten some new appliance or something. $50 a month is significant, I knew we didn't have anything that would raise it that much... :/

Of course your bill had to go up: those "smart" meters aren't free.

Correlation is not causation. Electricity bills are going up because electricity prices are going up, not because of smartmeters.
Isn't having someone come to your house every so often a lot more invasive than a box broadcasting your meter reading?
Funny story about the unintended broadband!

Wow
I forgot to see if there was a hand wringing going on out by my smart meter.
It must have been a silent protest.
