Excellent point, unfortunately one very rarely acknowledged. The so called criminal justice system is the biggest racket in the nation. And we are talking law abiding citizens as well as the others.
The "average" citizen commits three felonies a day.

There are enough ice heads, drunks, and other criminals to keep the criminal justice racket alive and well fed.

I also noted the "Stoner State Superbowl," but fail to see any connection between legalized cannabis and the success of the respective football teams.
I doubt that our state legislators have the fortitude to enact any legislation legalizing cannabis, and in the same vein (pun intended) I doubt that gambling will be legalized here any time soon.
Money notwithstanding.

The connection? Turns out legal weed is the gateway-drug to Superbowl appearances. No one saw this one coming.

Our state govt responds well when there is major monies to be made. Now that Washington and Colorado are showing major cash cows in cannibus tourism, I certainly believe it has perked up the legislators of America's only paradise -- island -- stikcy icky -- bud growing state. If and when a form of legalization comes through, I will say that tourism will play a major role.
As for gambling, any type of casino discussions have always been about tourist....not residents. Tourism makes everything spin in Hawaii.

I saw something on the news a day or so ago where a Hawaii legislator was considering a proposal to allow cannabis production intended for export to states with legalized cannabis use, but I have been unable to locate said article online.

Which guy is a bigger criminal?
No contest: alcohol and motor vehicles are "legal", and marijuana is "illegal", so it's
completely obvious which one requires more jail time.
As a side effect, the State is sending a clear message to potheads: "your tourism dollars are not welcome in Hawaii".
What a wonderful use of public funds! Look for more tax increases soon, so the State and County can keep up their good works!

Really? Driving drunk isn't illegal? Drunk drivers don't kill people?

Good point. With that and gay marriage, let the good times roll!
It says it in the bible, we've just been interpreting it wrong. It clearly states " when a man lays with another man he shall be stoned" hahahaha
