FYI:

Rain is not unusual for Hilo.

But the last couple of days have set new records for rainfall at the Hilo Airport.

The National Weather Service said 3.05 inches fell at the airport on Tuesday, breaking the old record of 1.39 inches set on Jan. 28, 1988.

It's the second day of record rainfall.

Monday also set a new record with about 2.77 inches, breaking the old record of 1.39, also set in 1988.

More rain is falling on Hilo today as moisture from the remnants of a cold front continues to linger over the Big Island.

The clouds are parting & sun is shining in Keaau right now...Although not a very heavy rainfall...I think it was one of the first that was a totally grey day -not a peak of sun yesterday (and all over the island grey & rainy) in a very long time...

In over 24 hours we only got 4 inches of rain here...nothing earth-shattering (though maybe a record for these days in January, nothing like the 15-20 inch rainfall days we have seen...)

Added, looking at the MKWC/IFA webcam, MLO is sunny with snow, but Mauna Kea looks like it is still snowing & dark...(I did add a pic of ukirt with the snow tractor & today at MLOto my dropbox images link for this Jan snow):
