I went to Belize a few years ago. Ambergris Cay. The second largest barrier reef in the world is there.
Warm people.
Incredible diving.
It was great fun to see how the third world operates. And it was so cheap.
Everyone is taught arts and crafts from an early age and the Art is everywhere.
I brought back some nice sculptures.

One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

I wonder if you can hang on and not fly if the trend of less people to Hawaii will bring down the cost of the flights?

Lately, I've been seeing more Asian tourists around. Some are downright rude, while others seem to be genuinely courteous, as I've had some refuse to make way on the sidewalk in Hilo, while others responded nicely to a polite "pardon me."

Another Asian couple was confused about fuel at the gas station and were dismayed that the green (diesel) fuel nozzle wouldn't fit in their rental car's fuel filler receptacle. I pointed out the differences in octane etc, and they were grateful for the tip even though we didn't understand each other's words.

The idea that "less flights" might somehow translate into "cheaper fares" is predicated on the faulty assumption that airfare is somehow based on actual costs -- granted, most of the "cost" is fuel, but the "price" of fuel is also a fabrication.

Look at the grocery store as an example: over the past few months, the price of a dozen eggs has doubled, but beer has remained stable. Both are shipped here. I'm sure there's an MBA who can explain how that one works.

The fact that in order to get here, our goods pass thru 2 frieght monopolies and a jones act?

airlines - ive been blaming the high prices on code share demand from the east coast cold wave this year. should start easing - yet united is posting 9 hundy for spring w/c travel

there is also a change in travelers taking place - tourism in general ---- the middle income folks priced out - the tourism business is catering to higher end travelers .... its change or perish in the industry right now - the focus becoming quality over rates

Woah! Thankfully they size diesel different. Would have been a long walk for her back to the rental place with a blown engine !

diesel wont kill a gas engine - just a flush out will fix it

its the other way round thats why they idiot proof the nozzle
