Camelopardalids Meteor Shower May 23
#11
Was kind of a dud, but still fun. Certainly was perfect viewing conditions in mtn. view (for once). We sat outside, bbqed, and watched the sky, from the time it got dark to midnight. We saw about 4 or 5 'good' ones. The presence of Jupiter, Mars and Saturn made things fun.

Later I was thinking to myself "why didn't I set up one of those tri fold chairs and just lay down and watch". Ah well...

We laid on the ground. It was the best way to truly watch, but it was kinda cold. That's when we had the epiphany - a solar heated jacuzzi! That would be bomb.

Tom Kuali took an absolutely spectacular show of a meteor trail within the milky way with the Halemaumau crater glow. HVNP facebook just posted it:

if you do not have a FB account, this is worth seeing (beg a friend or whateva!)
