District 4 & 5 Candidate Forum Video
#11
Bravo Mendo!!! A high school political science class could have put on a better forum. If anything the community saw the candidates making the best out of a bad situation. I think it was hard for the candidates to address the specific questions when the moderator from recycle Hawaii took so long to ask her questions. I have never seen anything like it. It was candidate arm bending at it's finest.

And then to have the Sierra Club and Recycle Hawaii slight our current Representative and 8 year incumbent Faye Hanohano by selecting Julia P. to moderate while Faye sat in the back unacknowledged yet poised and graceful. What is so ironic about the selection of Juila P. ,who was specifically invited to represent the Hawaiian people, is that she is Faye's ex-office manager who quit and now wants the Representatives job.
Also, here is something to think about... how can Ormat Geothermal and the Sierra Club both endorse the same candidate?

"...how can Ormat Geothermal and the Sierra Club both endorse the same candidate?"

What is far fetched about that? Geothermal ranks rather highly as a green energy technology whether you agree or not.

Assume the best and ask questions.

I'm not anti geothermal that just means heat from the earth and that has been used for ages. I am anti-Ormat and their proprietary way in which they make the steam hotter and inject chemicals to ensure that their equipment doesn't get all bogged up. I am anti Ormat because they are not being honest with the community.

P.S. And they are killing the trees with their emissions.

Emily Naeole appeared at the District 4 forum about ago, hosted by Rene Siracusa. If you have met her at Maku'u or better yet, at Uncle Robert's on Wednesday evenings you would not be surprised at all by her presentation. Unabashed Auntie Emily to da max.

If Tim Law has a medical condition relating to sitting down, then my apologies for bringing it up. I wish it were explained, tho, even now, 'cause it's relevant.

thank you for posting these links.. my, it was colorful thats for sure[:0]
the questions were so long and convoluted i have to admire the candidates for trying to respond.
that said, roy would have a district 4 vote hands down for me
for district 5 i thought frannie pueo did quite well. i also liked cherish but felt frannie's age and experience and being here all her life would be the tipping point for my vote.

my disappointment was the incumbant, he already has taken on the political headress of iffy sort of vague answers which was sad to me... i really hope in general and on a national level, alot of incumbants are shown the door....
tiffany hunt, her association with naole and things i have read on her blog are enough that i wouldnt consider her for my vote...

Thanks for clearing that up Rob. Back injuries are the worst and I would not fault a person for listening to what his back will tolerate.
ETA - why didn't they explain it?

Well that is good to know. I hope his back gets better soon. It is just a bit disconcerting to stand behind people. Maybe at their next appearance together Tim should stand on either end.

I agree that Cunningham should have been told to sit down instead of popping out each time.

When I said I had forum envy, must have been the part 2. Right now I'm half way through the first one and bogged down after those stupid T and F questions with the hand raising chaos. That was awful. It was like grade school. Or Sesame Street.

Madie Greene a long list of involvements that sounded good. She's not very emotive but she seemed solid and sensible.
