Hi lquade. I'm here visiting my mother in law who moved here a couple years ago. We came with an open mind about moving back, but I get the feeling pele doesn't want us here and am ok with that. Hahah.

Where does one get Koa seedlings/seeds?

Years ago there were free tree giveaways (around Arbor Day I believe) at the Hilo-facility on Kawili Street. Not sure if they still do those.

Seeds, from around a Koa tree

Seedlings, BIAN.org has a list of nurseries, some that offer Koa...there is also the great offerings on Earth Day & Arbor Day (spring here) from various forestry divisions that include free to low cost for (limited quantity) native seedlings, inc. Koa

I had received a koa seedling from the Earth Day give away a couple of years ago, after seeing a great little koa above Bird Park in HVNP, only to realize it would grow larger than my whole lot! I donated the seedling to another punawebber with a much larger lot!
