Best Pahoa Burgers
#11
I had a great burger and fries at Pele's Kitchen recently. I grew up in the Midwest where my parents bought a half a steer every year from neighbors and I am a burger snob, but this one was good. You can also get a beer or drink from the bar "next door" which is convenient.

People need to support this place or they will disappear.

I've had three Sunday breakfasts at Pele's kitchen and found it plenty good reasonably priced and friendly service. I work at Kaleo`s so I'll put in my vote for Kaleo`s. Besides it's the only burger I've had in Pahoa. I've had dozens and dozens of different calamari and can truly call Kaleo`s exceptional. And I'm certain no one will get the kind of service being discussed on another thread currently. Better not say any more or Rob will hit me up for advertising.

Since we're talking pahoa - I always enjoy a whopper from Burger King.

I second that for the whopper. Funny, I was just there five minutes ago eating a whopper combo.

BK and L&L are at the bottom of the quality imho. Pele's has that home cooked feel...

Black Rock has a good old American hamburger at a reasonable price.

As scary as this might be on the other thread - Liquin's has great burgers. I never knew but my friend when they are in town, go there an order the burgers. Started one time when they were with a group but didnt want Mexican. I had one the last time they were here in June and they are pretty good.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had not included L&L and Pele's Kitchen. The Great Pahoa Burger Search continues. Results to be released soon. If any burger joint wants to bribe me just send a donation to Punatalk or your favorite charity. My wife and I are truly furtive secret shopping restaurant critics.

Seems like there are some vacant areas in Pahoa for Easterling's Burger Eatery. Burger Emporium? Sandwich Shoppe? I suggest the flagship cheapo deluxe burger be priced at $4.20 plus tax, and the premium one with local beef, bacon, cheddar, and a small side be $8.08 plus tax.
