Off Island News Stories About the Lava Flow

NBC News interviews Paul Ogasawara owner of Paul's Repair:
"We just live day to day you know. What come, what come, don't come, don't come."

I remember watching the first Kalapana flow on TV, and even after having been to Kauai and Honolulu multiple times by then, couldn't really grasp what was going on as the TV news was presenting it. This is now in retrospect to going through this flow as a front row witness. At the time, it seemed terrible for some people but so remote. It was also noticeable back then how matter of fact people were taking it, not hysterical or crying or freaking out. Even back then, it was clear, when the Earth decides to move, stay out of the way. All in all, over time, if one observes, one will see how much distortion there is in media reporting.

Paul's is where I get my safety checks done. I chat with their mechanics while waiting for my safety as I am a retired mechanic from the mainland. one mechanic has worked there about 15 years and the other about 30 years. only in Pahoa! you don't see this on the mainland!

Puna has gone international. From the BBC:

Hawaii homes threatened by molten lava flow
The Kilauea volcano has... caused extensive damage to homes and businesses.

You can hear the coquis in the background of that video.
I think it'll be more than "dozens of residents" evacuating soon.

There's a documentary crew in Pahoa filming. They're traveling in a large dark colored minivan, with the side door open and the camera lens facing out. About 1/2 of the back of the van is filled with a huge large format camera, unlike any I've ever seen before. Hopefully they will be able to capture the hi-def sights and sounds of Pahoa town as is now, as we'd all like to remember it.

There's no other Pahoa in the world, and certainly no other town like Pahoa.

It's in USA Today: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/natio.../17993031/

I passed by USA Today headquarters on the way to Washington, DC once, it's right next door to the CIA headquarters.
