People are still reading books. Yes ,we should make digital access a big point. If you haven't been to the tiny library here in Mt View that serves both the public and the school, you might not realize how underserved library patrons are here in upper Puna. Yes, infrastructure requires upkeep.

I'd rather see the 36 million invested in broadband internet for under served areas. The last time I was in a public library nobody was looking at books they were just waiting for their turn to access one of the internet computers.

terracore, i find your last sentence very sad. the greatest gift i gave my children was the enjoyment of reading. i think public libraries are a wonderful thing, i just don't think we need a 36 million dollar building. something is very very wrong with this. just like mountain view's 219,000 jungle gym. wonder who got the bulk of the monies...
