Ancient Hawaiian roads? Were the Romans here first? And they were used by canoes?

Tom, perhaps you are unfamiliar with this recently discovered petroglyph depicting ancient Hawaiians commuting a exactly as described...

As a resident of Ka'ohe Homesteads I am extremely grateful that Apa'a Street has been reopened. I have calculated that while it was closed I put at least an additional 700 miles on my car, going around the long way. And without any reimbursement from FEMA...

There is a fine view of the lava and places where one can pull completely off the road to get a closer look. If you choose to walk out on it, be careful. You never know if it is hollow below your feet and might collapse under you - take a walking stick and use it.

By the way, Apa'a St. is not in the same category as Railroad Ave., as it is not an emergency road but a regular County road. Different rules apply.

Different rules apply.

Presumes that rules exist and/or are enforced "for everyone".

I wasn't aware of that petroglyph, thanks Lodestone! Where is that, Kinoole Street?
