Because that would involve some more effort than just typing.

Yes, if only there were entities willing to set up shop on the Big Island, and just by their presence were willing to offer scholarships to the keiki.

Oh well...

The Hawaii county geothermal fund never had scholarships. It was a council ruling to make it available only for relocation and safety mitigation, which did include alternate escape routes and safe house community centers. The reality is most of it is being spent away on health studies now.

Ormat has geothermal scholarships in other areas that aren't psychotically obsessed with geothermal paranoia.

Interesting he is calling himself an "environmental group" now. What a schizophrenic paranoid psychotic.

I just do not understand how you can be so afraid of PGV and still live right down the hill from them. Something doesn't add up.

Not scholarships per se, but a resource which was to have "public benefits for the community" has now been redirected into "specific benefits for some consultant".

One way to "solve" the problem: simply rezone the area commercial/industrial, anyone who wants to relocate can sell their property at a nice profit, and PGV's new neighbors will no longer have a "consistent land-use" conflict. No additional funding required.

all homes that go through the geothermal relocation program are not allowed to double dip so eventually there will be no more drain on the pgv fund

Not just some consultant. Hand picked ones from California. There are never any local qualified consultants, and they always have to be from California plus some being moved over with the money from the study, to become "local" consultants. Strange to see this "environmental group" not ask, but demand specific "experts", and the county council and windward committee goes, duh, OK.

This studies-consultants-kickbacks is an old Mafia scam, perfected by Casino Jack Abramoff. This current health study is draining at least $700K from the geothermal fund. The previous studies cost about $300K. The BLNR also gets a geothermal fund and that is going to DHHL and buying back native lands. There are several scholarship programs through DHHL although none specific to geothermal funds.

BTW, the results of these studies are usually that more studies are needed. Fancy that!
