WOW..keep these reviews coming. It is so great to hear about a new place in Pahoa that is getting rave reviews. We will be there soon...and will of course post our review also.

Jerry & I ate there last night and it is our new favorite restaurant. Everything was very fresh and flavorful. The food and ambiance are better than Hilo Bay Cafe and the portions are bigger.

Okay, I'm on the bandwagon too. The food was prefect. Calamari was fresh and tender. The entrees were great. The side veggies were grilled perfectly. The service was fine. To complete the evening there was a singer/guitarist (Rupert?) with a great voice, great selection of song and a sublte hand on the guitar.
We deserve this restaurant..... now we need to support it to keep it here.

Better than Hilo Bay Cafe you say? That's hard to top. Hubby and I will have to try it soon.

I like Hilo Bay Cafe myself but Kaleo's does a good job as well and it's close to home. Had the tempura ahi roll sushi, crab cakes, and lettuce wraps. Excellent. And the lilikoi cheesecake was ono.

I went a couple weeks ago and have to agree with those singing their praises. As a vegan, they only had one thing on the menu that could easily be made vegan, the pasta with marinara, which sounded pretty boring, but I'm used to limited choices at restaurants. It was delicious, and far exceeded my expectations. It's nice to have somewhere a little fancy for special occasions.

We must have gone on a bad night. I had the Ribeye. Mediocre at best.
I am back to my old favorite; Paolo's Bistro. No steaks or drinks or wine; and holes in the floor. But the food, oh my, and the fresh pasta, to die for. And Rose petals on the entry floor. Now that's my style.
Service may be slow , because every dish is made from scratch to order, so go early if you are in a rush.
And we drive 35 miles.

Interestingly, my friend said the same thing as Dan and she said Kaleo can't even be mentioned in the same book as Paolo's. She said it's a "faceless cusine." (I still have not gone there, so no personal experience yet.)

Okay. Let's keep things in perspective. It's Pahoa. And you don't have to cook!
