It is a shame that information exchange about emerging technologies get suppressed under the mantle of "conspiracy theories".
Thanks for keeping it local Rob

Even then I will usually give a bit of latitude to see if a topic can come into a Puna/Hawaii oriented vein. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.
... For the most part this is subjective and imperfect... Subjective means how things read to me. What Rob does is not an easy task ohiagrrl. I posted a recent topic and tried to keep it on track at the beginning by writing in bold "Local... local... local..." I had intended to play the role of topic monitor, to try and keep comments on track, or at least nudge and steer them in the direction of Puna. I failed. Not that it wasn't possible. In hindsight I realized I could have done a better job. I also realized if I couldn't manage one topic properly, how difficult it must be for Rob to oversee the entire site, including our differing expectations of how he decides things. I don't think Rob has ever locked a topic right from the get go, or if he has it's extremely rare. He gives discussions a moment to shine, or burn. My suggestion? Make your original post a locally relevant as possible, perhaps outlining in your first comments what you would and would not like discussed. Then, write, reread, and watch your own responses to comments, because that will probably affect whether the topic remains open more than what other people say. Not always, but sometimes, and hopefully often enough. I'd steer clear of conspiracy theories as Rob suggests though, there's plenty to worry about in the real world. You could never convince a monkey to give you a banana by promising him limitless bananas after death in monkey heaven.

the mantle of "conspiracy theories"
I'm sure there's a website for that, and probably a forum to go with it.

Seems I have a stalker. That thread about the Super Bowl was me passing on a reminder from the local police about not drink driving during the big game. Sorry it wasn't as exciting as lunatic fringe theories.

Since you shut the thread down it has been read by an extra 200 residents...
--------- Punaweb operates on an old platform. It doesn't equate to 200 more residents reading it.. It equates to 200 visits - which could have been done all by the same person.

Considering that 3 HPP related threads have been in the top 5 for some time now, maybe someone could create an HPPWEB and keep things super local!

Rob,
Keep up the good work. It is very much appreciated - including the exclusion of topics irrelevant to Puna (and conspiracy foolishness...). Ohiagirl - it's Rob's playground and he gets to make the rules that the vast majority of us believe are entirely fair and reasonable. And just to be clear, there is a difference between "new technologies" and conspiracy theories - and only one of them is reality-based.

I'm with you Geochem. Originally posted by Ohiagirl: "A bunch of baby boomers screaming pseudo science"... OG, your first posts about Ohia ash treatments were interesting . Judgements and gross generalities about Puna people, baby boomers, not so much. Thank you Rob, for putting up with us.

Don't believe everything you hear. There are always three sides to a story. Yours, theirs and the truth.
The above is something to keep in mind.
