Funny, wifey and I are just the opposite.
Inside my home is the place I spend the least of my time. So long as it is clean, dry, and safe... I'm fine with it.
Best of luck man.

I agree Palanakonu that outside is where I would spend most of the time, but I love interiors and want it in my vision, that's all. In my tiny house there wouldn't be much to it anyway, but I have many ideas to utilize the small space to the max. No need to explain my entire plan here, but it's my first place to call my own, so I want to make it my way.

Randomq-would love to build myself, but not capable of building, hence why I do interiors and not exteriors. My small woman frame is not a builder-just brains, minimal brawn, lol. I imagine it is easy for someone with knowledge and experience - that I wish I had. I can hang pictures and sew curtains, ha! Ok, I can do a little more... Thanks though, any more advice, tips or recommendations are welcome!

Based on this thread, you talk up the dream a lot, but are skimpy on the building details. Thats a recipe for getting ignored around here. Stick to the facts, maam.

I guess I'm unsure of what you are referring to bluesboy... I agree, I have not gotten into full building details here because the thread was about finding someone who can help me build or recommendations of builders. Unless I am missing something, would you like to hear more about my building plans? I have a full set of plans drawn up if that is what you are interested in? Then I say we start a new thread, because it is quite detailed. I figured no one cared to hear about the fine details unless they are interested in helping me, but maybe I'm just a poor confused ma'am. Anyhow, thanks again for helping all!

So. You have a dream, and some plans. How much time have you actually spent on-island?

Understanding "how things are done here" is more important than having plans.

The notion of "don't want to risk building unpermitted" suggests that you lack this understanding, as does the part about "will not be able to be around full time during the build".

I am not suggesting that it's wrong to have a dream, nor am I saying that the project is impossible, merely that more real-world knowledge is necessary to make an informed decision. This island will chew you up and spit you out if you're not careful.

Example: every subdivision is different. One of them is your "best fit". Have you figured out which one that is?

kalakoa- you are correct-Having plans involves many things including "how things are done here". If I plan to build a house in my backyard, I also “don’t know how things are done here”, so I hire people that do and I learn. I also don't know how to perform heart surgery, so I won't attempt it. I admit the things I need help with instead of trying to figure it all out and then failing because I went in blind. So, if I am moving for a job, or retirement or just want to have a second home, but “don’t know how things are done here” than I can’t build a house? Sorry, I’m a bit confused, again.
I have spent ample time on island to discover which area best suit my needs, even though this is not thread topic.
To me, it only makes sense to have a plan or I’m setting up to fail, but we all work differently, and that is how I have run a small company for 15 years without failure. I guess we all have our assets and areas we lack knowledge. I would love to learn more from your point as I am always learning and certain things may change my view/mind.
If I do prefer to build permitted and I do understand many don't, I don't think it reasons to put my idea down. I have reasons other than the building aspect for wanting it permitted. Again, after much research, I could be wrong, and I would love to hear why you suggest otherwise. Something to back that up instead of just pointing out my “lack of understanding”.
Everyone has a different situation and no one here knows mine.
I did state I can be flexible and be around for most of the build. I never said I won't be around at all- chillax folks.
I have gotten many of words of advice of my “dream” being simply a dream and my chances of making it happen are slim. I do appreciate brutal honesty, in fact that is what makes me push harder, so I thank you, because without negativity I would have never been as successful as I am today. Most people want to see people fail and that’s my favorite thing to prove people wrong about. I've been chewed up, spit out and stomped on numerous times and I just keep going. My skin is pretty thick.
BUT again I came here looking for BUILDER RECOMMENDATIONS and haven’t gotten much in that area, so I must be moving on instead of wasting any more time here. Thanks to those that provided good advice. I will find someone interested in supporting my idea and helping me with the areas I lack knowledge in. I wish everyone a happy, successful life!

So will Punaweb.

Puna and Punaweb is what it is. Some of the players with the most amount of knowledge, sometimes nearly all the knowledge in some subjects, share it on their terms. On one hand I'm not thrilled on how IslandSoul was introduced to Puna. On the other hand, if anybody has second thoughts about navigating a virtual Puna, maybe the real thing isn't their cup of tea either.
