The "Paris Accord" is two documents. I'd like to see the second one that gets into the nitty gritty about how the carbon tax is implemented.
"The text commonly called the “Paris Agreement” is actually two different documents: the agreement itself, which is legally binding, and the Paris decision, which passes the agreement and sets out a number of less legally binding ways to approach and observe it.
The Paris agreement includes no new specific commitments to finance. But item 115 of the Paris decision says that more than that $100 billion will be needed"

ETA: I don't want our tax-and-spend mayor agreeing to any part of that 100 billion.

Mayor Kim's signature must have a lot of power... Almost a superpower.
It's not often he gets dressed up in his SuperHK ensemble, but when he does, watch out!
it could prevent your 2080 scenario
Yes, sometimes a fallacious argument makes my brain pop with fallacious counter-arguments. I suppose I could just say, "That sir, is a misleading contention!"

Nope, not legally binding regarding financial obligations.
The only things required are regular meetings, keeping track of emissions, mundane stuff like that.

Hawaii has become the first state to align itself with the Paris Climate Accord, when Gov. Ige signed two bills into law yesterday:
1)
expands strategies and mechanisms to reduce greenhouse gas emissions statewide in alignment with the principles and goals adopted in the Paris agreement.
2)
establishes the Carbon Farming Task Force within the Office of Planning to identify agricultural and aquacultural practices to improve soil health and promote carbon sequestration in the state’s agricultural and aquacultural sectors.
"In this day and age, it is time for states and governors to lead."
Also noted, County mayors have pledged their support for the Paris Accord:

Would someone be so kind as to quote the efforts of our Hawaiian delegation to make this a legally binding treaty?
From the current news coverage it appears China is now willing to step up to the plate rather than exercise their pass under Obama.
Harry can support whatever he wants, but leave our taxes out of it.

The volcano emits "pollutants" which generally blow away from East Hawaii. Should we use that as an excuse to permit fuel burning without constraint by East Hawaii power plants, etc., even when technology exists that can provide cleaner air for Hilo and Puna 365 days a year? Is your argument that since there's already pollution in the air, we may as well make it worse?
If climate change is caused by both human contributions as well as natural processes, should we throw our hands in the air and do nothing? Is the situation really so hopeless, so broken and beyond remedy, that we may as well do nothing?

Federal law supercedes State law, right?
permit fuel burning without constraint by East Hawaii power plants
Such as ... Hu Honua, which is "green" because it burns trees instead of oil.

The highest polluting Helco plant on the island emits about 140,028 pounds per year.Compare this to the east rift zone vents at 5,000 metric tonnes per day.
