if they make you sign a new lease agreement, it may not include parking. i concur with everything else that was stated by john.

I don't know if there are commercial parking lots nearby (in a hotel?) You could just park there and give the paid parking recipts to the landlord, to reimburse you for the 5 days. But, that might not be such a good idea if at about the same time you are negotiating a new lease or new rent.

Maybe it is time to up and move to Puna?

Damon, have you ever figured out how much rent you paid during those years? I am sure somebody was happy you paid his mortgage! [Smile]

Yes... someone... somewhere... is definitely telling me something.

Don't rub it in Rabi [Wink] I'm just glad I have a house on the big island just waiting for me to move in. Now if I could only get a job that allows me the luxuries of my current one [Wink] on the big island then I would be home already.

It's a nice thought, however, with average parking rates at hotels in Waikiki going for $25.00 a night (for people who are staying at the hotels) I doubt my new owner would pay for all of us tenants to do that.

Want to see a funny video? This guy looks for parking in Waikiki for 10 minutes on a MOTORCYCLE and he still can't find parking. End's up having to pay $6.00 for a two hour show.

Damon, if you do stay, it is going to be a whole new agreement. Unless the owner is really dumb, why would they specify that you'll be provided parking at all times, with a repair coming up.

I know it's a problem to move your car, but, if you were an owner forking out money to pave a driveway, you might expect the tenants to be happy about the improvement and bite the bullet about the process. I understand where you're coming from but you should look at it from their perspective.

They want to pave their property. You cannot obstruct that, or make it difficult, or they'll perceive you as a PITA tenant, you know?

Now let's hope they don't raise the rent too much, but unless they bought the place for less money than your current landlord, sounds unlikely it would stay the same. And guess who will pay for the improvements and repairs through rent? You! Unless a group of philanthropists bought the property.

This is why I hated renting. My home kept getting sold out from under me, at least it was the place I called home. You are really quite lucky to have had this for a long time without changes.

All I can do is this

Yes I feel very fortunate to have had this place for as long as I've had with only 2 rent increases in 9 years.

sorry, just need to vent: why, oh why does my tenant feel the need to leave her hallway light on for HOURS?! she's in her bedroom with the tv blasting and all the lights in there on. the other day she had the dryer going for HOURS! she does NOTHING to save energy!!!! i do believe this year she will see an increase in her rent. our electric bill has almost doubled with two interim rate increases from heco and from her wastefulness.
