She cares more about status than being a public servant
Frankie, thanks for the background on Ashley, your insight and opinion. I did a quick search on Google for more info on her. The results are surprisingly limited, especially for someone from the social media generation, and mostly focused on her run for council. But from what I could find it looks like you have a point that in Puna, to reconfigure Brother Noland:
She's a high fashion girl in a coconut world.

Ohara's legislative aide is local and can't sleep because a rooster farm has moved in next door to her home
Then OHara's legislative aide shouildn't have bought a home on ag-zoned land.
Ohara's proposed bill, drawn up at the request of a group of constituents
If her "constituents" are less than "the entire County", then failure of her proposal is the correct outcome.
There's really no need for County to involve itself in issues that belong in a subdivision's CC&Rs.
I don't think Ashley gives a flying fig about representing Puna.
County doesn't care about Puna either, so it's a perfect match!

While background information is something to be seriously considered, I would like to see a more issues based campaign. Ashley's website, at least at this early stage, seems to be totally lacking in stands on issues facing Puna. I want to know what she proposes to do about subdivision roads, law enforcement, medical resources, and budget/taxes. Based on her record so far, I have some idea about Ohara's positions on these issues, and the record is mixed in my opinion. I'd like to see clear policy statements from both these candidates and any others who emerge.

I have to agree Chunkster. Even though she has an instagram page for her campaign, it's mostly pictures of people in t-shirts and campaign signs. As you noted, we need to hear more about her views on subdivision roads, law enforcement, medical resources, and budget/taxes.
Let's hope her website will soon grow and expand to include those views, as well as other concerns of residents living in Puna.

Agree with Frankie Stapleton.
Ashley Kierkiewicz is pretty lipstick for the corrupt old boy regime.
She would be a prettier but still unconcerned Puna rep in the mold of
Greggor Ilagan, Fred Blas, Emily Naeole or Al Smith in the recent past.

Otherwise she wouldn't stand a chance.

Frankie Stapleton:"But regarding Ashley Kierkiewicz"--- "I wish she'd just go get a job as a high fashion model".
OMG! Are we still qualifying women by their looks?
I seem to remember even President Obama got in trouble commenting Kamala Harris was attractive. ( which she is, but you are not supposed to notice).
Wasn't Emily a high fashion model, Puna edition, before joining the council also?
At the extreme risk of being politically incorrect, I think Eileen Ohara is quite attractive. The fact she appears to bathe regularly and dress nicely is not a disqualifying factor IMHO for being my representative.
On a separate note (physical appearance aside), I give Eileen credit for taking on the Fowl problem, but obviously taking advice from the Planning Dept to deal with any issue is unlikely to work.(think Puna development) Now the rest of the weenies on the Council view the issue as radioactive, so the suffering will continue.

No, I'm not qualifying Ashley based on her looks but on my own subjective observations of her as a person. I really get the feeling from her that she'd like to be a fashion model but it's a hard job to land as a Big Isle resident and mother of two . So the status of a council rep will have to suffice. From what I've seen of her public and Dem Party performances, she's a good public speaker but doesn't seem to follow through with the work.

Frankie: your position as Eileen's prior (and maybe future) campaign manager and chief cheerleader would not have ANYTHING to do with your comments, right?

Just be concerned about the competency and the positions of the respective candidates.
At this point, O'Hara is my choice, based on qualifications and background and incumbency.
Ms. Kierkiewicz has shown us nothing at this point.
No idea of who is managing either candidates campaign.
