I inquired with HDOT about the material. Its leftover cold plained asphalt from a paving project north of Hilo.

Thank you Aaron for explaining & bringing back on topic. So it's basically just a storage area for the county? Tractor trailer containers have also started showing up lately & a forklift.

Can we have some?

They need the forklift to shuffle the pallets of material. White bag, yellow bag. I haven't stopped to see what they are yet, maybe fertilizer for the UH research station?

Hawaiian Acres Road Corp spoke with the guys on the highway a couple of years back and they said that we could help ourselves to the material to fix our roads. When everyones favorite nag that lives in Hawaiian Acres found out about that, she went to the DOT and told them that it was illegal to give that federally funded material for private roads. Permission Denied!! No more free material. I hope someone didn't lose their job for trying to help us out.

Peter - no one lost their job or were demoted and that material is still in place on D rd from 8 to 9 .
It is considered haz mat material and is utilized now for under lament for paving projects .The Ship-man industrial complex is slated for repaving in early 2019 so we think the county is stock piling for this up coming project . Mrs.Mimosa

Driving on Hwy 11 earlier I got to see some of the work that was being done. From what I could see they were moving stuff from one piece of ground to another.

"It's hazmat, too dangerous for you, but Shipman gets it for free."
I wonder, are any of the roads in Shipman Industrial Park privately owned? Or all turned over to county? Would look but on slow mobile.

"No data available for parcel 161469990000, contact Assessor's Office for more information." (For Kipimana and side streets in Shipman Industrial Park.)
The other side of Hwy 11, Kipimana is listed as "Various Owners".
