People dont following that as it is now. I dont see that changing in the future if it becomes legal.

My first month living here I witnessed moms smoking up in their cars while waiting for the school bus to drop off their keiki.
I dunno Terracore, they may be paranoid, but the couch is awful comfortable and they're sure they will remember to do something about the big conspiracy later when they're sober...

It looks as though the bill is still alive but facing some resistance from legislators, even one of our Puna reps:
Rep. Joy San Buenaventura said it doesn’t make sense to push the measure through unless Ige gets behind it. San Buenaventura represents Puna, a mostly rural area on the Big Island long known for pot growing.

Ironic, Joy thought the dispensary program was more important than the dengue fever outbreak.
From the article:
But it faces a Friday deadline to pass out of the Health and Ways and Means committees and indications are it won't.
It never ceases to amaze me how Hawaii legislators are quick to cite Federal pre-emption as a reason they can't do something, unless they've decided that the State has sovereign rights to do something despite Federal law.
Legalization: bad, pre-empted by Federal law.
Dispesnaries: totally within Hawaii's rights as a State. Make your check payable to...

We should never forget that Joy Sanbuenaventura was too busy doing "legal work" on the marijuana dispensaries bill to know there was a dengue fever outbreak in her district. So why am I not surprised that she is equivocating on a bill that would bring a measure of prosperity to her district and remove the monopoly on legal sales she helped create?

Does Joy even live in Puna?

Who needs recreational pot in Hawaii anyway(except maybe the state with the money it would generate). It's way over priced now for medicinal users. Just grow it , or bring it back from your next mainland trip.

There's something wrong when legislators say they can't do something because the executive branch doesn't like it. If the exec won't sign something that is their kuleana. But for the legislature to not legislate out of fear of it then they have abdicated their's to the exec. There are majorities that can override a veto but Joy, apparently, would rather just rubber stamp the Gov's policies.

Yes, the crowning moment of her career methinks...
