HomeDepo has the same.

I'll stop using self-serve kiosks when the human check-out lanes provide better, more efficient, and more personal customer service than the self-serve scanners do.

Please list what someone earning less than minimum wage could purchase when they get their paycheck, after deductions. And transportation costs getting to and from work. Insurance and license for their transportation, food, work clothes. Etc...

Anything left? Anything for rent?
--------------
At minimum wage in Hawaii, one would be getting a decent amount of EBT and very likely be getting subsidized rent. Add in the Earned Income Credit and they end up getting more back than they paid in.

However, there are very few places that actually pay minimum wage in Hawaii. It is supply and demand that sets the wage costs, not some arbitrary number made up by politicians to get poor folks to vote for them.

EBT... likely... subsidized rent. Add in the Earned Income Credit...

So no minimum wage is OK because if a worker is paid less, they'll just get more government benefits so they can survive? Presumably until their wages are so low, we'll just give them universal basic income as glinda suggested?

Problem solved?

Now we can pay higher prices to support the new minimum wage while also paying higher taxes to support the benefits that subsidize those minimum wage workers. Sounds fair.

Easy: Kids in high school. The housewife looking for a few hours a week away from the home. A retiree. People need to get out of this mindset that every job needs to pay a living wage. I've worked for minimum wage and was happy to get it. My parents were putting the roof over my head, food on the table, and clothes on my back.

Ah I see. So you suppose that is how it is for everyone else?
