Let’s talk speed bumps in subdivisions
#11
It would be wise to get approval of at least all the owners that drive that stretch of road, but I think legally any owner can make "improvements" to the shared property that don't infringe on other owners' rights. So you could improve the road by adding a speed bump, and another owner could improve the road by removing a speed bump.

belong to the all residents of the subdivision

Ownership is not absolute; claims may be mitigated by extant CC&R provisions and/or pre-empted by County rule. Consult your attorney.

Leilani Estates CC&Rs:

portion of LEILANI ESTATES referred to above shall be public streets and are not
subject to this Declaration. Those streets or roadways which are not so dedicated shall

their guests and invitees, and firemen, policemen and other government personnel in
accordance with applicable laws and rules and regulations of the Association so long as
such Association or a successor assuming its function as to such street or roadways is
in existence.
Each owner shall also have as to each lot of such owner a 1/2241st nonexclusive
right to the beneficial use of the easement in Roadway Lots A,B, and C, as shown on
the tract map of LEILANI ESTATES to be used in common with others entitled thereto,
the interest in the said right in the easement for such use to terminate upon dedication

Speed bumps are a very noisy way to slow down traffic. You really dont want one in front of your house.

Yep 1st you get the sound of squealing worn out brakes, then you get the noise of an air-bound car or truck returning to earth, then you get the exhaust blast.

Not worth it.

An old joke, but still so true -Orchidland doesn't have speed bumps to slow traffic, we have speed holes.

KTA has so many speed bumps (and stop signs) it should be illegal.

The only thing a speed bump slows down is a lowered Honda with a loud exhaust. Trucks with a lift and oversized tires just blaze through, whether it is a bump or a hole. Not worth the time and expanse in my opinion. I would rather install a camera with date and time, repeat offenders on a "routine" get called in as a nuisance for speeding/reckless driving to get a patrol car out at their "regular" time.
