New mall in Kona (Target coming)
#11
There was going to be three phases. But they scaled in back about year or so ago to just two phases.

I'm sure there is enough population base to support all these stores. We've been able to support at Costco, Wal-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot and Kmart. Although I figure Target may kill off the Kmart though.

Costco was originally looking at building across from Home Depot in Hilo. But decided against it since they normally buy the land under their stores, not lease.

On the site I just viewed it mentions Kailua.... however, not Kailua-Kona.

I'm assuming this is Kailua, Oahu. [Wink]
My wife spoke to someone who's close to someone who has been in discussions with Whole Foods and it sounds like "Kailua, HI" means Kailua-Kona. Yeah, I know, it's "a friend of a friend said..." situation. We'll see. The rising oil price may impact decisions to proceed with new store plans in the State for any company.

Kona may not have the largest population to support all these stores...but they have the money and thats really all that counts.
