You point out actual facts to these people and because there is no rational argument they can make and think attacking an argument is a personal attack, they then respond with real personal attacks. It's not a big deal, I've experienced this for nearly 30 years now. I have to say back in the old days the personal attacks used to be a little wittier and somewhat more intelligent, but I suspect you can thank modern-day social media for that. PS.
